The Camerons Gourmet Mini will create delicious hot smoked dishes with the minimum of effort. About half the size of the Camerons Stovetop Smoker, it otherwise has virtually the same construction, all in durable stainless steel, and works the same way allowing you to hot smoke a variety of foods directly on your kitchen stove. In addition, the Mini Smoker can be used outdoors on your barbecue and its shoebox size makes it very portable and ideal for a fishing trip or camping holiday. Indoors, the smoker is suitable for use on electric, gas and most ceramic hobs*, plus it can be used on the base of a medium to hot oven in an Aga or Rayburn. It also doubles as a steamer, so is an indispensible addition to your kitchen cookware collection.
The Mini Smoker uses a hot smoking process whereby food is cooked in smoke flavour generated by specially developed grain-size wood chips - see separate entry here - when exposed to a heat source directly below. These wood grains are 100% natural wood and ground to a size which promotes maximum smouldering & smoke flavour generation. Two 1oz tubs of wood grains, usually hickory and alder, are supplied with your smoker giving you enough for a couple of smoking sessions, plus a cooking guide which includes a starter selection of recipes.
No additional oil, fats or salt are needed during the cooking process making the hot smoking method a very healthy option and, because the unit is enclosed, the meat doesn't dry out with amazingly tender and succulent results. The Mini Smoker is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
